Cancer-related chemicals found in Oregon water, environmental group says

Hundreds of millions of Americans, including people in Eugene and Springfield, are drinking chemicals tied to cancer, according to researchers at the Environmental Working Group.

 

 

EWG said nitrate often enters drinking water because of the nitrogen in agricultural fertilizer and manure. It can increase the risk of cancer and birth defects and is in the water of 263 million Americans served by 26,644 water systems.
